Where to this weekend? Definitely in the snow. 28.02.2025 - Michal Sedlák vložil article 28.02.2025 11:26 The coming weekend will be mainly marked by carnivals in our mountains and foothills. But don't miss the snow fun. The climatological winter is over and the outlook for the coming weeks promises really warm spring weather. There's nothing to wait for. Go skiing this weekend, or hit the trail. The first weekend in March will be a winter weekend in the mountains. Maybe a stray snowflake will fall here and there in the Jeseníky Mountains. You're probably in for one of the last cold days of this winter season.
For skiing & cross-country skiing Renowned mountain resorts and smaller resorts are ready for your visit. It's up to you whether you prefer the kilometres of corduroy or the relaxed atmosphere of the family slopes. Will it be Dolní Morava, Kunčice, Velké Vrbno, Stříbrnice, Branná, Františkov, Zborov, Ostružná, Filipovice, Sedlo, Malá Morávka, Karlov or Andělská Hora? If you go to Dolní Morava, you can take part in the snowboardcross race for children and adults on Saturday on the U Slona ski slope. On Sunday, the Czech-Polish public race for five-person ski teams will take place at Annaberk near Andělská Hora . So go on, form a family team and go! The first 20 teams get a free day pass. Maximum care is also still being taken on the cross-country ski tracks, which have been lucky enough to have plenty of snow this winter. For fresh info, check out jdemenabezky.cz
Velhory, art and an evening visit to the monastery Already today, Friday 28 February, there will be a rare visitor at Jiří's Cottage in Šerák. Zdeněk Háček Hák will give a lecture about the expedition to Muču Kiš from 8 pm. On Saturday evening, on the other hand, you can go on a trip to Ethiopia with Petr Kaspar. During the weekend, you can also check out the screenings of the award-winning films of the International Mountaineering Film Festival Teplice nad Metují. On Saturday, the Rýmařov City Museum is planning to open an exhibition of tapestries, watercolours and prints by the legendary Czech tapestry artist Eva Brodská. An evening visit to the pilgrimage site on the Mountain of the Mother of God near Králíky will also be an exceptional experience.
Carnival revelry The tradition of carnival will also come alive across the Jeseníky Mountains this weekend. On Saturday, 1 March, you can take part in a carnival, merry singing and feasting in Loučná nad Desná, Česká Ves u Jeseníku, Zlaté Hory or Staré Město u Bruntál. On Sunday, a horse-drawn carnival parade will pass through Sobotín and will end at the Sobotín castle with a fancy dress carnival for children.
