Even the little ones can manage a trip to the Rejvíz lake

If you are going through a wonderful period when you are helping your little ones to discover the world, we have just the tip for you for a pleasant trip in our mountains, which is almost all manageable on your own even for little two-year-olds.

Such a "babyfriendly" locality is the surroundings of the largest Moravian peat bog. If you know at least a little bit about the Jeseníky Mountains, you already know that we want to invite you to the Rejvíz National Nature Reserve. This very specific plateau in the Jeseníky Mountains was the site of a peat bog thousands of years ago, and its large moss pond is one of the most visited places in the Jeseníky Mountains. The black surface of the pond, which reflects the silhouettes of the surrounding spruce forests and bog pines, is reached by a nearly two-kilometre-long nature trail, which is easy for the youngest hikers to follow.

The trail starts at the famous Rejvíz guesthouse. However, don't be tempted by its attractions right at the start and save its excellent cuisine, seating on carved chairs with portraits of regulars, indoor swimming pool or brand new outdoor swimming for the end. However, be vigilant from the start of the route, as you may spot rare cranes or chestnuts in the surrounding meadows. The first kilometre and a half or so of the trail follows a standard forest path. Here you can make the route more pleasant for the children by building a house for the elves. Trust that you will come across many more along the way. Then a hut trail appears in front of you through the trees, with a ranger's field station and a ticket office where a symbolic donation is collected to restore the trail. Next, you might take away a small souvenir or a few interesting tidbits from the quirky treasurer and trail keeper in one person. Don't worry, you'll eventually be able to manage the less than half-mile-long hiking trail with a stroller.

Then, by the mossy pond, take in the local energy and tranquillity. Watch the dragonflies swooping or the graceful movement of a dragonfly on the murky surface. If you dare, search the banks for carnivorous sundews with a keen eye or tell your children the mythical tales of Shepherd Gill. Or maybe, like us, you'll meet Emperor Joseph II and his wife on the way to the pond. Then your little girls might be even more excited to walk along the pathway that was built for princesses who didn't want to get their beautiful dresses dirty on the way to the pond.

If you can manage this family hike, you can eventually succumb to the attractions of the Rejvíz guesthouse, or you can walk through the picturesque Rejvíz to the Orlí vrch farm, delight your children with the sight of the farm animals and fill your stomachs with local homemade specialties.
