Are you also becoming more aware of the murderous pace of your life? Then don't be afraid to slow down. You don't exactly have to be less efficient at work, just slow down in your free time at first. Be ʹslowʹ, for example, on holiday here in the Jeseníky Mountains. You can start in charming Branna.

The mountain village, inconspicuous at first sight, situated at the foot of the Hrubý Jeseník Mountains, is an ideal place to pamper your body and soul. Literally.

The genius loci of the place will definitely appeal to you intensely if you come to Branná by road from Staré Město pod Sněžníkem. From the road offering views of the Jeseníky Mountains and Králický Sněžník, the last descent into the village will offer you an almost kitschily picturesque view of its panorama with the typical silhouette of the church with its baroque plump tower and the massive walls of the local chateau. Perhaps this view will remind you of your travels to the Austrian or Slovenian mountains.

The second time, you will feel the spirit of the place most strongly in Branna's square, a small square, yet rich in reminders of the old times. One of the dominant features of the square is the splendid town hall with its typical Art Nouveau elements. Practically opposite the current office stands the building of its predecessor. Although the 16th-century rectory is now unused, it still creates a unique atmosphere. The Church of St. Michael the Archangel has stood above the rectory for four hundred years. Legend has it that the statue of the Madonna was brought here from the Holy Land by a Knight of Malta. The fact is, however, that the sanctuary is one of the most valuable examples of late Renaissance sacral architecture. Even as a layman, you will definitely notice its Renaissance entrance portal.

Take your time and rest on a bench by the church under the young chestnut trees with a view of the village and the surrounding hills. Other corners of the little square offer soothing views: behind the information centre and the forestry, hunting and carpentry exhibition, you can enjoy views of the fallow deer field while the children play in the unobtrusive playground. The terraced park by the town hall, on the other hand, offers views of Šerák and the old Alois meadows. Apropos, the cut through the centuries-old trunk in front of the entrance to the rural exhibition, which has not only the events of the village across the centuries marked in its rings, reminds us that haste is not only unnecessary here.

Don't forget to sample the locally famous tubes in the pastry shop on the square and quench your thirst with local beer in the Kolštejn microbrewery. And we believe that you will also visit the castle during your walk through Branná. We take for granted at least a peek into its courtyard. Kolštejn Castle, built on the site of a medieval castle, is one of the unique late Renaissance arcaded castles of the Transalpine region. If its atmosphere really enchants you, you can even spend the night there.

But before you decide one way or the other, your ʹslow dayʹ in Branna should include relaxation in the Kolštejn Wellness Centre, which boasts the status of the largest sauna complex in the Jeseníky Mountains. You can find it right on the little square in Branna.
