Jeseníky trails that you should not miss - part 1 16.07.2020 - Tomáš Rak vložil article 16.07.2020 07:55 The hundreds of kilometres of extensive network of hiking trails in the Jeseníky and Rychleby Mountains are followed by, or are part of, dozens of interesting thematic trails. Do you know the most interesting ones? In the footsteps of history Today, seemingly ordinary places can have almost unreal stories written into their destiny. One such story is woven into the history of Bílá Voda and the surrounding, mainly Polish, villages. In the second half of the 19th century, the Dutch princess Marianne of Orange lived in this region. It is the life story of this emancipated, enterprising woman and her activity that the trail bearing her name commemorates. The trail in the colours of the House of Orange winds through eleven Silesian villages on Polish and Czech territory. The now inconspicuous border town of Zlaté Hory also received much more attention in the past. Gold was mined in its surroundings. The local underground was said to have been known to the Celts, and gold nuggets from Zlaté Hory were in the collections of Emperor Rudolf II. The Zlatohorská mining nature trail passes through the most important local mining monuments. The trail around the Old Town under Sněžník is devoted to the theme of the World War, which should definitely not be forgotten. There are six Czechoslovak border fortification buildings from 1935 to 1938 in its surroundings. Some of the so-called "kopeks" can even be viewed inside after a phone call. You can also discover many interesting things on the city tourist circuits in Jeseník or Šumperk. While walking around Jesenice's architectural monuments you will discover, among other things, a real pearl of English Art Nouveau. In the streets of Šumperk, you will see why the town used to boast the nickname "Little Vienna". | |
